Marissa Kucharek is a local artist to the Wichita community. Marissa’s passion for art started at a young age. Her passion for art started in middle school while taking three art classes that included drawing, painting, ceramics, and mosaics. Taking art classes continued on through high school and college. Inspired by her aunt is where her love for photography started capturing photos of landscape, flowers, and animals. Her passion for art she was inspired by Warhol, Kandinsky, Hopper, Swain, and Maier. That passion grew stronger and more serious after taking photo imaging in high school which was the old school black and white film photography and taking AP Studio art her senior year of High school. Marissa has been displaying her artwork in many Final Friday events from 2014 to now. Some of her most known exhibitions of her work was her first one at Artist Central Gallery with the help of another local Wichita artist Jo Zakas. Another was North High’s AP Art Show with classmates in 2016 which some of her classmates were even interviewed that night and was featured on downtown wichita's instagram page. Marissa’s most proud of show was featured at Mark Arts for the National Photographic Exhibition which was a juried art show that all of North America could enter in. Marissa has been published in a book called Coelacanth Literary Journalfor Newman University’s Lit Fest for 2016-2017 which featured poetry, artwork, and short stories. She also was featured in the Wichita VIP magazine for the National Photographic Exhibition show in 2017. Marissa’s work has also been featured on different instagram pages like @wichitaictlife, @igwichita, and @hellowichita. Marissa Kucharek is known for her diverse and very artistic photography which include nature, architecture, and portraits. Marissa also explores her artwork in other media like watercolor paintings/drawings, colored pencil drawings, and graphic design work. Marissa Kucharek continues to pursue her passion and career in the arts while attending Newman University for a degree in Art with a photography and graphic design concentration.
