ARTIST SUBMITTED BIO
rin Raux is an artist working and living in Wichita, KS. She received a BFA with an emphasis in ceramics from Wichita State University in 2008 and is currently a sculpture MFA candidate in her third year at the University of Oklahoma and is expected to graduate in May of 2016. She is the proud recipient of numerous scholarships from both Wichita State and the University of Oklahoma and has had the opportunity to travel and study in many different parts of China including Fuping, Shaanxi, Xi'an, and Beijing. Spending four weeks in the rural town of Fuping in 2012, she served as a resident at the Fuping Pottery Art Village where her ceramic works can be viewed in the permanent collection of the FuLe American International Museum.
Currently exploring subjects of connection, loss, history, and, death itself, Erin’s work is an instinctive progression of gathering, sorting, and associating in order to define an installation. She is a self-proclaimed borderline hoarder and uses a wide range of domestic and mundane materials. Paired with the use of found objects, these materials unite to address humanity without utilizing the human form.
