Chiyoko Myose is a Japanese artist who lives and works in Wichita, Kansas. She was born and raised in Wakayama, Japan. She holds a BA in English Literature from Doshisha Women’s College in Kyoto, Japan. After she moved to the U.S. in 1995, she started pursuing art and received a BFA in painting from Wichita State University in 2011. Her works are primarily painting and installation art. She has made 16 major installations so far including commissioned outdoor installations for public cultural events. Chiyoko has been exhibiting her works actively in Wichita art scenes and has shown her works in Japan, and Italy as well. She completed her residency program at the International School of Painting, Drawing, and Sculpture in Umbria, Italy in summer 2009, and was awarded several awards including a Koch Cultural Trust Enabling Grant, a Wichita Emerging Artists Award, and a Wichita Arts Council Artist Grant. She is married and has two children.
