Kill Vargas's third album release, Gouge/It's for the Best, is infectious, fun, irreverent music that's both tight and sloppy, inspired and lazy, cool and nerdy, and simple and complex. Makes sense the most repeated lyric on the release is, "I'm just bored." What?! No, it doesn't make sense.

Many musicians struggle to find the "stuck in your head" melodies that this power trio seem to take for granted. Kill Vargas writes punk songs inspired by Thee Oh Sees, who were inspired by Nirvana, who in turn were inspired by the Beatles. It's fuzzy electric guitar over a tight rhythm section with a tune that you haven't heard before, but is immediately familiar.

Though a short, two song release, Gouge/It's for the Best is ripe for multiple listens—like all night with your buddies on a Friday, then also Saturday night with your buddies again and then on your own Sunday afternoon. You get the picture.

Kill Vargas is a Wichita-based band comprised of; Logan Bush, drums; Austin Engler, bass; and Griffin Bush, vocals and guitar. You can find Gouge/It's for the Best along with their previous releases at killvargas.bandcamp.com
